TICK & TICKBORNE DISEASE WORKSHOP
with Blake Dinius
May is Lyme awareness month!
Hate ticks? Does it feel like no matter where you go, you always seem to pick up ticks?
Why are ticks so much worse these days than “back in the old days?”
Ticks are a re-emerging threat to human health. There are currently three known species of human biting ticks carrying 10 different diseases. And, there may be more ticks and diseases flying under the radar. Understanding tick biology holds the key to preventing disease.
Many people know something about ticks, but misinformation may leave them vulnerable. Knowing
the right information is critical. When it comes to ticks and their diseases, the key is awareness, not fear.
As an avid angler, camper, and hiker, he believes New Englanders should enjoy the outdoors. With the right knowledge and tools, all tick-borne diseases are preventable.
