Spectacular Shrubs for New England Gardens
with Joann Vieira

A trip to the average nursery in spring will turn up the same 10-15 spring blooming or evergreen shrubs commonly available in the New England market. Many of them are virtually bullet-proof and are the standard stock in trade for solid reasons. These same shrubs are likely also part of the repertoire of two thirds of the average landscapers in the region but savvy gardeners need not be limited when the choices for great shrubs are so vast. There are distinctive shrubs for every purpose and suited to a variety of garden positions. A bit of sleuthing might be in order to find them but most good gardeners relish the opportunity to scan fine mail order plant purveyors, to talk plants with skilled landscape professionals, and even make their own foray to exceptional nurseries in search of treasure. We looked at some outstanding shrubs which will add distinction, diversity and year-round interest to your garden. Joann shared images from gardens around the region in this 1 hour PowerPoint presentation.
