             Roses for New England

                 with
Mike and Angie Chute
viaZoom, for HWGC members
                                    and the Community at Large

Roses should be red not dead, but it sure can be a challenge in New England. Mike and Angie are rose experts who will share their strategies for growing hardy, healthy, and disease resistant roses. Novice rose gardeners will find everything they need to know to successfully grow roses in our climate, and experienced gardeners will utilize this program as a ready reference to enable them to grow better roses. This includes when exactly to plant, prune, and fertilize, which types of roses will do best in our climate, and of course lots of beautiful pictures of roses!

This program includes: six easy steps to growing roses in New England; how to select Winter hardy and disease-resistant varieties for New England gardens; the best way to plant and prune roses; and tips and personal anecdotes from the authors’ 25 years of rose gardening experience. Learn more about rose experts Mike and Angie Chute, authors of Roses for New England: A Guide to Sustainable Rose Gardening and Rose Gardening Season by Season: A Journal for Passionate Gardeners at rosesolutions.net.

Please register in advance via Eventbrite.com. Open to the public, $10 donation suggested.

next up....   February 24th, 7pm
             Our Conservation Expo
viaZoom, free and open
                                   to the Community at Large

The Conservation Expo was such a success last January that it will return February 24th, via Zoom, with the ability to ask questions of each presenter. Speakers represent local conservation organizations and share information about local resources from composting to the watershed to dealing with invasive plants. Each of us can make a difference for the environment in our own back yards.
If you know of an organization that should be invited to participate, please contact hwgcprograms@gmail.com.
Please register in advance via Eventbrite.com. Free and open to the public.

Later in this 2020-2021 programming year, we will have a March panel on soil: The Dirt on Good Dirt, and in April, The Art in Bloom Roadshow.
Stay in touch for upcoming program information and details.
